President issues ‘National Medical Education Ordinance-2017’

KATHMANDU,  President Bidya Devi Bhandari has validated the ‘National Medical Education Ordinance – 2017’, three weeks after it was guaranteed to Prof Dr Govinda KC.

The Head-of-the-State, on the proposal of the Council of Ministers on October 23, issued the Ordinance as per the Article 114(1) of the Nepal’s Constitution, the Office of the President said.

The new mandate puts a strict 10-year ban on building up new restorative establishments inside the Kathmandu valley. The recently established law additionally limits colleges to concede alliance to just five therapeutic universities each.

With the new authorization, Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University can’t issue alliance to any more schools.

Prior, on Thursday Dr KC had approached Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to express gratitude toward him for the administration choice to bring the Medical Act, one of his requests, through a mandate, asking for him to make a start for its confirmation by the President.
